Sugar Gliders--A Complete Pet Owner's Manual
As a licensed breeder of these unique animals, I believe this book has the best, most accurate information available. I highly recommend it to anyone that has, or is thinking of having a Sugar Glider.

I think it was great.
This book was very helpful, had great info, and wonderful pictures. I think if you are interested in buying one or more, or just want info on Sugar Gliders this is the perfect book. I highly recommed this book to Sugar Glider lovers.

Good book for people who want a glider
I am a sugar glider owner, and I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in sugar gliders. It includes dietary information, care information, and even instructions for building a cage! The only problem I saw was that a picture caption mentioned letting gliders have a sock to sleep in, and that's a no-no, according to the breeders I talked to. Otherwise, this information is right on the money!

Snappy Little Colors
My 10 month old niece enjoys this book at least 3 times a day...and has ever since she was only 3 months old. Although, she has about 25 excellent age-appropriate books, this is her favorite! The pop-up paper is sturdy, and the illustrations are bright, clear and simple.

A Real Winner!
I bought this book for my son when he was 18 months old. He fell in love with the vibrant colors and pop-up creatures immediately! At 27 months he still asks for the "parrot" book regularly. We love this book so much we buy them for our friends' children and have completed our set of Snappy Pop-Up books with the other four.

great pop up book!
My daughter loves this series, and she's only 15 months old! The pop ups are sturdier than you'd expect, but we have used some scotch tape. These books have taught her animals sounds (farmyard) and many other things. I'm sure this one will help with her colors.

The Pocket Parent

EVER WISHED YOUR CHILD CAME WITH OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS?
I have twin 2-year-olds and a new baby. Needless to say, I find my patience, parenting skills and sanity being tested daily! Sibling rivalry (including occasional hitting and biting), anger towards the new baby, not listening, whining, separation anxiety, bad words, tantrums in public...what's a mother (or father) to do when you've simply had it? "The Pocket Parent" has become a part of the essential "stuff" that I carry around with me. Because of it's size and A-Z arrangement of topics, I can look up some ideas to try on the spot. The humor and empathy throughout the book help comfort me in the thought that I am not alone and that I am a good mother in the midst of a very important and sometimes very challenging job. I have noticed that since I have been using this book that I often try to take a few moments to think before I speak. I am proud of that, because I find my communication with my children to be more respectful as well as more effective in gaining their cooperation. "The Pocket Parent" lifts my spirits-especially on one of those days when everything that can go wrong, does. I also appreciate the fact that there are many "Daddy" anecdotes included in the book. My husband and I found it very helpful to read suggestions together, followed by discussion for a few minutes before we go to sleep when we have a specific problem. I highly recommend "The Pocket Parent" for every parent that has questions about their preschooler.

Practical, sanity-saving wisdom for every parent!
As a parent of a strong-willed preschooler, The Pocket Parent is THE place to go for all the answers! The A to Z format allows me to pinpoint an issue I'm having with my child, whether it's anger, mealtime issues, tantrums etc., then I flip to the right page for some very positive and easy-to-follow advice with a touch of humor. The book is filled with personal anecdotes...some made me laugh, some touched me profoundly..all were very insightful.
This is the best parenting resource book I've found. It's easy and enjoyable to read. Best of all, it's so warmly-written and supportive, it's like getting a big reassuring hug with every turn of the page.
Thanks to Gail Reichlin and Caroline Winkler for a terrific book filled with practical, sanity-saving wisdom. It's perfect for any parent or caregiver of young children!

Innovative information that makes sense!
Myss is fun to listen to--witty, light-hearted, and well-organized. Whether you're sick, depressed, or ready for spiritual growth, these tapes will clarify what your next steps could be. I have listened to the nine hours of tape at least five times in the last few years, and each time there is fresh wisdom that I wasn't ready to notice before. Her insights somehow grow along with me!

Incredibly Profound. Myss's best work
I have read a lot of spiritual material, and this one has had a continued and lasting impact on me. It has helped to give me an understanding of my chakras and how I relate to the world that fits completely with other spiritual material. This material made so much sence.

I am a healthy person, so Myss's books on healing have never interisted me. This material, however, taught me how to guage my own personal power and understand why I'm weak and why I'm strong. Ever since going through these tapes I have been continually physically aware of my chakras. I can feel when I am working on something that is affecting one of them, and I am aware when I am leaking a significant amount of energy from one (which is pretty much every day, but I'm aware now).

Myss has a system where people can become certified as instructors of her material. I took a local weekly class on this series and it really expanded the material, I recommend it if you can find something like that in your area. Also, once you have used this material to understand where you are leaking energy and why, you can use Byron Katie's 'The Work' to help disconnect from what you are tied into.

This tape series is THE definitive Carolyn Myss
I listen to a lot of personal growth tapes. My orientation is to listen for material to apply to my life. I don't like vague theories. I began using Carolyn's ideas immediately and have found that they are changing my life. A key point she makes is that you don't have to take 20 years to heal from a trauma. You can "call your spirit back" from past painful events and disappointments. This very simple notion, when applied during meditation, can transform your life. Try it. As they say on TV "It really, really works!"

Show Me!: A Dog Showing Primer
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (January, 1997)
Author: D. Caroline Coile
Average review score:

Very helpful but leaves me still wanting more
This is a great book for beginners like me. I've never shown a dog before and Show Me! really gives me most of the information I needed to compare with my expectations of showing. Coile writes very matter-of-fact, honest and plain- not a lot of 'insider' terms that the novice won't understand. Lots of pictures to illustrate posting dogs and proper physical attributes. I do wish she'd detail more what type of interaction/resources the novice might use in getting started (such as local kennel clubs, classes etc). Wonderful resource and left me wanting more- I hope she updates this book with even more helpful, detailed tid-bits!

Excellent Intro to Showing
I've read just about every book on showing, and this is the best introduction to the world of dog shows I've seen. I wish more exhibitors shared Caroline Coile's wonderful attitude about showing dogs. She covers everything from finding and raising that show quality puppy, basic stacking and gaiting (with helpful color photographs), entering shows and what to do when you get there, and problem solving techniques, to good sportsmanship and suggestions on how to avoid common pitfalls. And she does it all with a great sense of humor -- an important quality to have when you're showing dogs.

Learning the show circuit
Wonderful book examining and explaining all aspects of the show dog world. This book can quickly become a ready reference to carry with you to dog shows as well as reading and reviewing at home. The information contained within its pages is accurate and up to date. The superb layout allows you to access a topic with ease. Clear illustrations accompany the text. The author writes like a friend not withholding secrets and always encouraging the novice.

The Right to Privacy
Published in Hardcover by Random House Value Publishing (October, 1997)
Authors: Ellen Alderman and Caroline Kennedy
Average review score:

Thought provoking, and a little scary!
This fascinating book outlines privacy rights in the United States through a review of case law. Covering citizens' privacy rights with respect to police encounters, the media, and one's own body, the book reveals how far the law has evolved, and how much room there is for further protection. My personal reaction was shock at how many areas that I thought were protected, in fact are not, or are still under contention.

THE RIGHT TO PRIVACY
Although the word "privacy" does not appear in the United States Constitution, most Americans believe that their right to privacy is not just legally protected but fundamental to their lives, their way of living, and this country's democratic system. Abstract and difficult to define, privacy is nonetheless perceived as one of our most basic and coveted rights.

But is it? How well are we protected? And what, exactly, are we protected from?

Through a seamless interweaving of landmark cases, lesser - known but equally important trial decisions, and dozens of anecdotal narratives, Ellen Alderman and Caroline Kennedy, authors of the best - selling In Our Defense, make an urgent and complicated issue more absorbing and accessible than ever before. In thier hands, we can finally see the law translated into relevant human experience.

The Right to Privacy delves into six general areas: Privacy versus Law Enforcement, Privacy and Your Self, Privacy versus The Press, Privacy versus The Voyeur, Privacy in the Workplace, and Privacy and Information. Can you refuse to comply when a police officer asks to look through your luggage? Is there anything you can do to prevent all those computerized data banks from filling up with more and more personal information about you? Can television cameras follow a breaking news story right into your home? Does your boss have a right to know that you are homosexual? a smoker? dating a co - worker? Who is entitled to make life - or - death decisions for someone who is no longer able to do so? Legally, the answer to each of these questions revolves around the right to privacy.

We live in a society in which our right to privacy is much discussed, misunderstood, and, in many cases, seriously threatened. The Right to Privacy will enrich the discussion, shed light on many of the misunderstandings, and illuminate the real - life, everyday impact of one of the most important issues of our time.

This book is a eye-opener
This book should be read by anyone who is concerned about the issues that surround our rights to privacy. Alderman and Kennedy review real-life court cases to show the audience how our laws come to be. The subjects that are focused on, are the police strip-search cases, school search cases, right to die cases, right to contraception cases, and privacy in the workplace to name a few. There is also a little segment on the issues of technology (the world wide web) and privacy. Kennedy is a very qualified person to write this book, because she grew up in the media glare having very little privacy herself, and understands firsthand what it is like to have a basic fundamental right violated. The right to privacy is a very serious issue in the United States. Alderman and Kennedy do a very fine job explaining how easily our basic fundamental right to privacy can be violated. I highly recommend this book as it is very easy to read and understand.

Chihuahuas: Everything About Purchase, Care, Nutrition, Diseases, Behavior, and Breeding (A Complete Pet Owner's Manual)

Excellent source of information about the chihuahua.
As a new, and relatively uninformed, chihuahua owner, this book was a wonderful source of information about this small breed dog. Of particular interest to us were the chapters on nutrition, health, and grooming. It also had a chapter that helped with the question of whether to breed or not.

MY CHIHUAHUA BIBLE
I RAISE AND BREED AKC CHIHUAHUAS. I HAVE LOVED THEM AND OWNED THEM SINCE I WAS A CHILD. THEY ARE MY BABIES AND MY PRIDE AND JOY. I TRY TO KEEP MY NEW OWNERS AS KNOWLEDGABLE AS POSSIBLE
WITH THEIR NEW PETS. THIS BOOK IS LIKE A BIBLE TO ME. I TELL EVERYONE WHO BUYS A CHIHUAHUA FROM ME TO PURCHASE THIS BOOK. IT HAS SO MUCH HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE INFORMATION. NOT ONLY AS A BREEDER, DO I ENJOY THE BOOK, BUT, I STILL USE IT TO LOOK UP CERTAIN THINGS THAT I MIGHT HAVE FORGOTTEN. I THINK ALL NEW CHIHUAHUA OWNERS SHOULD HAVE THIS BOOK!

Excellent!
I am a first time Chihuahua owner. This book has been such a big help! Our vet was impressed by how much I know about this wonderful breed! I would recommend this book to any Chi owner!
It was also a very easy read!

Great Dog Reference Especially for New Dog Lovers!
I bought this book because I've been looking for a detailed reference on dogs with real pictures. I previously owned Dr. Fogle's book. It is quite good, with full color illustrations of the breeds. It also contains around 400 breeds of dogs, including those not yet registered by the AKC. Unfortunately, it lacks details like affection level, freindliness to different types of "elements" like to dogs, to strangers, etc. This book went further down with what Dr. Fogle has. Unfortunately, only 150 AKC breeds are included. Those looking for uncommon breeds, this book is not for you. However, if you plan on doing research on dogs that are easily obtainable, then this is a great reference. I like the different sections for each breed like History, Temperament, and Upkeep. This helps a lot especially when buying a new dog or puppy. I also like how the author differentiated watchdog ability and protection ability. Many people confuse these as one and the same. Then when they got their dog, they found out that it's all bark and no bite. The standard is helpful for those wishing to show their dogs (the Philippines has the same standard as the AKC). The only thing I didn't like that much are a few of the pictures. Most of them are fabulous. However, some of them, like the Miniature Schnauzer, are not well represented. I have a Mini and kinda disappointed at the second picture of the breed they used. That ear crop on those two dogs is terrible! With this, I have to bring my rating down to 4 stars. Overall, a great book for dog lovers.

Good book - well written & good layout
Just like the last 2 reviewers ... I have only one little issue with this book ... some breeds are missing.

But otherwise the book is fabulous ... lots of pictures and generally good ones too ... and more important, it provides reasonably substantial information about the breeds that do appear in the book ... from a brief breed history, breed temperament to expected life span ... from grooming needs to general health care ...

Particularly like how information is presented in a clear organised manner. Carries more useful information other similar type books.

A very good book for people looking for their 1st dog or anyone interested in learning more about the different breeds.

Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds
A wonderful book! One of the best dog books I've ever seen!! There are beautiful photos of each breed, and there are over 150 AKC recongnized breeds in the book! The author could have added more breeds, but the book only includes AKC breeds, so doing so would have been giving false info. There are two pages for each breed, so plenty of information is givin. There is a chart for each breed which includes Playfulness, Affection level, Cold tolerance, etc. Sections of the text are History, Temperment, Upkeep, Health and Form & Function. You can learn a lot just by reading a few pages in this book! The pictures show the dogs in all different positions, not just in show position, and in a variety of the breed's colors. The backgrounds resemble the dog's function (ex. Belgian Tervuren has a background that includes sheep) This is a great book! 5 stars!

Emergency Room by Caroline B. Cooney
Emergency Room by Caroline B. Cooney is a wonderful book about real-life in the ER. Many tragic events happen in what seems like forever, but is only three hours. You get many people's perspectives of the ER. You get the staff and patient's point of view. It shows what really happens. I think anyone could enjoy this great book.
